Client:
Rick Lynch is a retired speechwriter, former Marine and combat veteran, and longtime researcher of U.S. history, political philosophy, and constitutional law. With over 30 years of independent study, his work challenges modern assumptions about the Framers' intent-especially regarding your money and government power. His writing has appeared in The Washington Times and other national outlets. A graduate of George Mason University, Lynch enjoys fishing and landscape design when he's not buried in the Founding era.
Problem:
The goal was to create a book cover that conveyed historical authority and constitutional significance using recognizable american imagery. I wanted to visually enforce the themes of money, liberty and governance with typography that felt traditional and timeless while remaining bold and eligible.
Solution:
I chose a worn paper texture to immediately evoke the idea of the Framers drafting the Constitution. The distressed edges, subtle tears, and layered text reveal an oil-painting–style image of the Framers in the act of shaping history. I presented the author with multiple cover concepts, including variations that explored different color palettes, typography, and imagery.
